CORE-V Binutils & GDB

Low activityOpenHW Explorer editorial assessment

corev-binutils-gdb is OpenHW's development fork of GNU Binutils and GDB for CORE-V-specific assembler, linker, binary-tool, and debugger changes. Its development branch tracks upstream Binutils while carrying CORE-V work intended for possible upstream submission. This inactive repository is useful when maintaining or auditing the historical CORE-V GNU toolchain, but it is not an official upstream distribution or a current end-user tool package.

At a glance

  • Role: CORE-V Binutils/GDB development before proposed upstream inclusion
  • Upstream boundary: development fork, not the official GNU Binutils repository
  • Branch model: development is the designated active-development branch
  • Synchronization: tracks upstream Binutils while adding CORE-V changes
  • Quality posture: branch policy expects builds and tests to pass, but this is not an independent certification

CORE-V GCC

corev-gcc is OpenHW's development fork of GCC for CORE-V-specific compiler work. It contains the complete GCC source tree and uses a development branch as the integration point for CORE-V changes, so it is relevant to toolchain maintainers investigating those patches rather than to application developers looking for a packaged compiler. The repository is inactive and is not the upstream GCC project; new standard RISC-V compiler work should normally begin with current upstream GCC.

CORE-V SDK

CORE-V SDK is a packaged IDE and quick-start environment for importing, building, and debugging CORE-V sample applications. It brings together GDB/OpenOCD or QEMU launch configurations, register views, an integrated terminal, and FreeRTOS-aware task and queue inspection. The project is now inactive and its documented host matrix is limited to older x86 Windows and Linux versions with no Arm-host support, so it is best used to reproduce its original workflow rather than as the default SDK for a new project.
